I have, admittedly, never been great with consistency. This speaks for itself: my last post on this blog was written over three years ago. I am, however, fastidiously committed when I set my mind to something. I am setting my mind to revitalizing this site.
Since 2017, I have graduated with a degree in Communication. I worked in a field which I hated, and now, like millions of others, find myself without a job. This has been a blessing in disguise: it planted the seed for me to return to my roots, to my passion for cinema and writing — and I only intend to nurture this sapling from here on in.
With that being said, I welcome you all — once again — to my little corner of the internet. I plan to use this space not only for sharing critical analyses of films, but also for lighter, more fun-hearted pieces — poetry and whatnot. The central unifying thread, of course, will be cinema, in particular Old Hollywood.
One of the biggest things I aim to achieve here is to not take myself too seriously. So often in academia comes the expectation that one must be stuffy and straight-laced. I am unapologetically not so. I prefer not to censor myself and enjoy having a laugh. Life is too short, anyway. One’s worth and reputation should not lie in how they present themselves, but rather in what they have to say.
Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy your stay!
